Salesforce, the cloud-computing company, announced in September that it had reached net-zero greenhouse gas emissions, even when counting its customers’ energy use.

Board composition is critical to making progress, says Richard “RJ” Bannister, chief operating officer at Farient Advisors, a corporate governance consultancy in  the Financial Times article, “Navigating the Bumpy Road to Net Zero”. Boards should, he says, include individuals with a broad perspective on how to integrate net-zero goals into strategies such as cost-cutting, efficiency gains, and risk management.
